The cheftestants are: returning from The Next Iron Chef: Season Two Nate Appleman (Chipotle Of all the competitive cooking shows out there, my two favorites are probably Top Chef Masters and The Next Iron Chef. Unlike the regular version of Top Chef, where some of the competitors seem to be just trying to get famous enough to open their first restaurant, and Hell's Kitchen, where almost all of the chefs seem waaay too uptight and inept to ever run a kitchen, the competitors in The Next Iron Chef have already proved their chops, so to speak. Most of them have run at least one kitchen, if not multiple locations, and usually have some on-air experience.he cheftestants are: returning from The Next Iron Chef: Season Two Nate Appleman (Chipotle Mexican Grill, ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen), Amanda Freitag (Chopped), Eric Greenspan (The Foundry on Melrose, The Roof on Wilshire, Los Angeles) and Jehangir Mehta (Graffiti, Mehtaphor, New York); from The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs Elizabeth Falkner (Krescendo, New York), Alex Guarnaschelli (Butter, The Darby, New York, Chopped) and Spike Mendelsohn (Good Stuff Eatery, We The Pizza, Washington, D.C.); and first-time Next Iron Chef competitors with their own redemption stories, Tim Love (The Lonesome Dove, Western Bistro.
